Time elapses. Rewind is allowed to leave her prison- er, hospital room. She needs to go around on a wheelchair, and it'll still take at least a month for her bones to mend completely, and she needs help to move around and do stuff. But she definitely won't complain about being able to eat real food more often (she is very thankful for the bot bringing her takeout), and she can keep riding along with paramedics even when she can't really move around a lot.

And one of these days, while she's in an ambulance, something lands on it, rocking the vehicle and startling her from her thoughts. The ambulance stops, and whatever it is makes noises as if it's moving and then jumps off it. Rewind twists to see through the window, and-

"Console, a really weird leafy monkey just jumped on the ambulance and then off it," she says into her comm.

Then after the prototype passes review she may, at night.

She does another round of tinkering on the cloaking device and submits it for review.

It takes a few days, but eventually they let her use them, with the understanding that they are too avoid causing panic and needlessly spooking the civilians at most costs.

[thinkering]

The bots will be so discreet! They will fly high and avoid light.

[peterxy]

That's what they hope. Still, it's not twenty four/seven, and no signs of Blasto are immediately obvious.

[thinkering]

Well, the bots are tireless. And they can plot Transit paths through the city while they go.

[mxglam]

Speaking of Transit, is he around today...? Glam might want to ask him something.

[alicornucopia]

Yep. He's hanging out, probably doing something in his helmet but to outward appearances just kinda sitting there.

[mxglam]

"Hi!"

[alicornucopia]

"'Lo, Glam."

[mxglam]

"So, um, Lorica's birthday's soon."

[alicornucopia]

"So it is. You have something planned?"

[mxglam]

"I was gonna ask you the same! 'Cause I don't feel like a party's a great idea, she's not terribly close to the Wards and technically we don't know each other in Arcadia."

[alicornucopia]

"There's going to be a cake, at home. Not a huge party. 'M sure she'd like it if you came though."

[mxglam]

"Oh! If you'll have me, I'd love to come."

[alicornucopia]

"Not a problem."

[mxglam]

"Awesome! Will it be on the day itself? Should I be a surprise? I should get her a gift. A book, do you think?"

[alicornucopia]

"Yep, day of. Up to you if you want to be a surprise but she'll notice you coming home with us. She does like books."

[mxglam]

"Yeah, no surprise, I think, and I'll get her a book, books are the best gifts."

[alicornucopia]

Transit laughs softly.

[mxglam]

"Hmm, fiction or not is the question, she likes classic books doesn't she."

[alicornucopia]

"Yep. Already has a lot of 'em, though."

[mxglam]

"Yeah," they sigh. "I might just ask her for a suggestion."

[alicornucopia]

Nod.

[mxglam]

"Well, thanks!"

And off they go after Lorica.
